Behind everything we think or believe is a backstory of how we came to that thought or belief. Behind everything we think or believe about God is a backstory of the original broken trust in the Garden of Eden. Every human story begins in a state of broken trust in God. When we look at God through our own experiences, we are often confused and do not know whether or not to trust Him. When I asked Him to show me who He was . . . answers started to come that are slowly, but surely, revealing a God worthy of trust, love, and obedience. Charles Spurgeon is quoted as saying: “God is too good to be unkind and He is too wise to be mistaken. And when we cannot trace His hand, we must trust His heart.”
That quotation has been turned into a song that always inspires my heart:
The link above leads you to the first chapter of my own story of coming to trust God.
These verses sum it up: Colossians 2:2-4 The Message (MSG)
2-4 I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God’s great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we’ve been shown the mystery! I’m telling you this because I don’t want anyone leading you off on some wild-goose chase, after other so-called mysteries, or “the Secret.”
